When a fresh, new approach to an old thing comes about, it can be
either disastrous or magnificent. Their third effort, Famine of a Thousand Frozen Years (released in 2007 on Blackwinter Productions and distributed more widely by Nokternal Hemizphear), is the latter, i.e.death/black/epic/ melodic metal you must own to be a purist! The third release (first full-length) by Apostisy is nothing shy of pure melodic death metal in all of its essence. It is completely packed with a wonderful overdose of northern, winterized, epic, Scandinavian metal. Yet, as many critics have observed, it also has many other influences, e.g. symphonic, progressive, thrash, and more. It is steeped with torrents of emotion, anger, and despair, and foreshadows the eventual victory with a dash of 'foolish' hope that yet remains to encourage the weary warrior.
