In 1992 Sardonyx released Majestic Serenity on its own Lightshine label. They were a Lancaster County , PA, band committed to follow-up and discipleship of converts, so committed themselves to being a regional band that could play a role in getting them grounded in the faith, rather than trying to get signed by a major label and tour nationally. So its no surprise that all their songs had strong Christian content suitable for Bible study. Theirs was an 80s thrash and power metal sound similar to that of Sacred Warrior, Testament, Metal Church, and Meliah Rage. The music is super tight, super heavy, technical, and incorporates heavy doses of progressive and thrash metal also. Listen to the nearly eight minute song 'Puppet Of Beauty' as see if you don't detect strong Metallica and Megadeath influences. Tom Denlinger's vocals are outstanding, featuring a clean, mid-range voice that works well for this style. Retroactive Records re-issued a Limited Edition of just 1000 copies September, 2007. In addition to digitally re-mastering it, the band's 1990 4-song cassette only demo titled Rebel Of Reason has been added as bonus tracks, available on CD for the first time, plus outstanding artwork and layout by renowned artist Caleb Olsen (X-Sinner, The Seventh Power, Final Axe). a re-release of the band's self-produced debut, 1994's Majestic Serenity, itself a combination of material recorded by the band in different times, with the re-release also including a demo from 1990. Musically speaking, the band creates a combination of classic American power metal with some technical thrash elements, all quite well played, with strong, high-end vocals. Though it's self-produced, it sounds quite good, with the later material, circa-1991, sounding better than the older stuff. This is easily a lost gem for classic metal fans out there, interesting and dynamic, with some solid song-writing. Songs include: 'Puppet Of Beauty,' 'Paracletos,' 'Corridor To Light,' 'Short But Suite: Opus In D FLat (instrumental),' Royal Honor,' 'Heavenly Throne,' 'Ft Drum (Instrumental),' 'Holy Avenger,' 'Call Upon the Master,' 'Voice Of the Prodigal,' 'Liar,' 'Scandal ( bonus track),' 'Don't Chase the Rainbow (bonus track),' 'Bloodshed (bonus track),' and 'Rebel Of Reason.' 15 songs 10=page insert w/lyrics
